Countless women around the world have experienced the anxiety that results when a condom breaks, when they have forgotten to take their birth control pills, or even worse, have been forced to have sex against their will. As they check off the days on the calendar, they nervously wonder, "Will I get pregnant?"

Emergency Contraception:
A Valuable Second Chance

Emergency contraception can reduce the risk of pregnancy by between 75% and 99% and has been in use for over 20 years. Yet EC has been called "the best kept secret." Many women remain unaware of this important option and in dozens of countries, access is still limited.

ICEC: Working Together To Make EC Available Globally

The International Consortium for Emergency Contraception (ICEC) unites international organizations committed to a common mission: to expand access to emergency contraception, with an emphasis on developing countries.

Building Collaboration Among Our Members

  • ICEC facilitates information sharing and networking among our members and with other groups that are also working to broaden knowledge of and access to emergency contraception;
  • ICEC serves as a strategic planning forum for emergency contraception service delivery and information, education, and communication efforts;
  • ICEC serves as an authoritative source of information, and a voice for expanded access to emergency contraception.
