    The American Medical Association helps doctors help patients by uniting physicians nationwide to work on the most important professional and public health issues. Search their website for "emergency contraception" to view their policy statement in support of EC.

  • The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
    ACOG serves as an advocate for quality health care for women, maintains the highest standards of clinical practice and continuing education for its members, promotes patient education and stimulates patient understanding of and involvement in medical care, and increases awareness among its members and the public of the changing issues facing women's health care. ACOG supports increased access and awareness to emergency contraception, and has published a number of fact sheets and news briefs detailing the steps being made by the United States government to protect access to EC.

    ASRM is a multidisciplinary organization for the advancement of the art, science, and practice of reproductive medicine. The Society accomplishes its mission through the pursuit of excellence in education and research and through advocacy on behalf of patients, physicians, and affiliated health care providers. ASRM was a co-sponsor of the "Back Up Your Birth Control" EC advocacy campaign.

    The American Society for Emergency Contraception (ASEC) is a voluntary collaboration of organizations working to improve women's access to emergency contraception. ASEC's focus is on emergency contraception in the U.S., but also includes a number of international members. ASEC works directly with ICEC to produce a semi-annual newsletter on EC developments worldwide.

    This site contains a listing of pharmacies in the United States that carry over the counter emergency contraception, as well as basic facts and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about EC. The website is available in English and Spanish.

    This Mexico EC website, initiated by the Population Council and now administered by DKT International (both ICEC members), provides client information, scientific evidence, information for the press, and general information about EC. (Spanish-language site)

    The Society aims to improve access to contraception and reproductive health care in the countries of Europe, promote availability of established methods, commission and carry out studies, and share knowledge of contraception with organizations and institutions worldwide. Many PowerPoint presentations are available on their site discussing emergency contraception along with other contraceptive choices.

  • Flora Tristan
    Flora Tristan is a Peruvian organization that works to strengthen women's political participation, actions, and self-expression, and to monitor and manage programs directed to women's achievement and advancement.     The Global Health Council is the world's largest membership alliance dedicated to saving lives by improving health throughout the world. Their diverse membership is comprised of health-care professionals and organizations that include NGOs, foundations, corporations, government agencies and academic institutions that work to ensure global health for all.

    InfoJoven is a Chilean website dedicated to adolescents and youth. The site includes up to date information about significant issues to adolescents and/or youth regarding sexuality and reproduction, contraceptive methods, and how to prevent sexually transmitted infections and diseases, including HIV/AIDS. Their website includes the world's largest bibliographic database on family planning issues, e-zines, quarterly reports, and a web portal through their resource tool called OneSource.

    The mission of the Kaiser Family Foundation is to provide timely, reliable, and non-partisan information on national health issues to policymakers, the media, and the general public. The Kaiser Foundation also has extensive resource materials related to emergency contraception and produces valuable e-newsletters and webcasts concerning health issues worldwide.

  • National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health
    The US-based National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health (formerly the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Reproductive Health) recognizes and respects women as decision-makers for their health care and NPWH's mission includes protecting and promoting a woman's right to make her own choices regarding her health within the context of her personal, religious, cultural, and family beliefs. NPWH represents nurse practitioners that provide care to women in the primary care setting as well as in women's health specialty practices. The NPWH monthly newsletter often contains special articles and updates on emergency contraception research and availability.

  • National Contraception Policy Guidelines, Republic of South Africa
    This site includes a model for a dual protection approach (an approach that promotes strategies that prevent both unwanted pregnancy and STI/HIV infection) in the National Contraception Policy Guidelines issued by the Republic of South Africa's Department of Health. In discussing barrier methods, these guidelines state, "in the event of condom failure, access to emergency contraception should be promoted more extensively."

    NFPRHA's mission is to assure access to voluntary, confidential, comprehensive, culturally sensitive family planning and reproductive health care services and to support reproductive freedom for all. NFPRHA, based in the US, represents providers of care: public, private, domestic and international as well as researchers, educators, consumers and advocates. In the area of emergency contraception, NFPRHA offers detailed information and fact sheets on their website and is a participant in the "Back Up Your Birth Control" campaign.

    The Emergency Contraception Website is operated by the Office of Population Research at Princeton University and by the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals. This site is designed to provide accurate information about emergency contraception including program materials, pill formulations, and availability worldwide. Information on where and how to obtain EC is available in English, Spanish, French and Arabic.

  • The Pharmacy Access Partnership
    The US-based Pharmacy Access Partnership, established in 1999, is a center of the independent, nonprofit Public Health Institute. Its purpose is to expand consumer access to contraceptive commodities and reproductive health services in pharmacies, and to give pharmacies a stronger role in promoting community health.

    Raising Her Voice provides a safe space for survivors of sexual assault to share their experiences with emergency contraception (EC or the "morning-after pill"). The website aims to raise awareness about the important role of EC during a time of crisis.

    Reproline, a service of JHPEIGO, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, provides information on all types of reproductive health along with training materials and internet tools in English, Spanish, French, and Russian.

  • Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States
    SIECUS-the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States-has served as the national voice for sexuality education, sexual health, and sexual rights for over 40 years. SIECUS affirms that sexuality is a fundamental part of being human, one that is worthy of dignity and respect. The SIECUS website contains a number of policy statements reporting on emergency contraception availability in the United States.
