The Emergency Contraception Website is operated by the Office of Population Research at Princeton University and by the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals. This site provides extensive information about emergency contraception including program materials, pill formulations, and availability worldwide. Information on where and how to obtain EC is available in English, Spanish, French and Arabic.

Medical Association
The American Medical Association helps doctors help
patients by uniting physicians nationwide to work
on the most important professional and public health
issues. Search their website for "emergency contraception"
to view their policy statement in support of EC.

American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)
ACOG serves as an advocate for quality health care
for women, maintains the highest standards of clinical
practice and continuing education for its members,
promotes patient education and stimulates patient
understanding of and involvement in medical care,
and increases awareness among its members and the
public of the changing issues facing women's health
care. ACOG supports increased access and awareness
to emergency contraception, and has published a number
of fact sheets and news briefs detailing the steps
being made by the United States government to protect
access to EC.

Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM)
ASRM is a multidisciplinary organization for the advancement
of the art, science, and practice of reproductive
medicine. The Society accomplishes its mission through
the pursuit of excellence in education and research
and through advocacy on behalf of patients, physicians,
and affiliated health care providers. ASRM was a co-sponsor
of the "Back Up Your Birth Control" EC advocacy
campaign.

- Back Up Your Birth Control (BUYBC)
Back Up Your Birth Control is a national campaign to expand access to EC in the United States by increasing education and awareness. Each year, a partnership of leading advocacy organizations, service providers, and other community stakeholders conduct educational outreach and offer free services, culminating in the annual Day of Action. The campaign is coordinated by the National Institute for Reproductive Health.

Católicas por el Derecho a Decidir is the Latin
American division of Catholics for a Free Choice,
an ICEC member association. This site provides spiritual,
scientific, and medical guidance in support of abortion

- Curricula Organizer for Reproductive Health Education (CORE)
CORE is a collection of peer-reviewed, evidence-based teaching materials, including a number of EC resources. It is an open access tool that anyone can use at any time free of charge. CORE is a collaborative effort of many organizations working to improve the quality and quantity of reproductive health information included in health professions education. CORE is managed by the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals (ARHP).

This site contains a listing of pharmacies in the
United States that carry over the counter emergency
contraception, as well as basic facts and Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQ) about EC. The website is available
in English and Spanish.

Society of Contraception
The Society aims to improve access to contraception
and reproductive health care in the countries of Europe,
promote availability of established methods, commission
and carry out studies, and share knowledge of contraception
with organizations and institutions worldwide. Many
PowerPoint presentations are available on their site
discussing emergency contraception along with other
contraceptive choices.
- Family Planning: A Global Handbook for Providers
Published by K4Health, the book offers clinic-based health care professionals in developing countries the latest guidance on providing contraceptive methods. The Handbook is available in Arabic, English, French, Hindi, Persian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, and Swahili.

to strengthen women's political participation, actions,
and self-expression, and to monitor and manage programs
directed to women's achievement and advancement. This
link displays one of their campaigns for emergency

Health Council
The Global Health Council is the world's largest membership
alliance dedicated to saving lives by improving health
throughout the world. Their diverse membership is
comprised of health-care professionals and organizations
that include NGOs, foundations, corporations, government
agencies and academic institutions that work to ensure
global health for all.
- InfoJoven
InfoJoven is a Chilean website dedicated to adolescents
and youth. The site includes up to date information
about significant issues to adolescents and/or youth
regarding sexuality and reproduction, contraceptive
methods, and how to prevent sexually transmitted infections
and diseases, including HIV/AIDS. The site also provides
information on reproductive and sexual health rights.

- Kaiser
Family Foundation
The mission of the Kaiser Family Foundation is to
provide timely, reliable, and non-partisan information
on national health issues to policymakers, the media,
and the general public. The Kaiser Foundation also
has extensive resource materials related to emergency
contraception and produces valuable e-newsletters
and webcasts concerning health issues worldwide.
- Knowledge for Health (K4Health)
The mission of K4Health (formerly the INFO Project) is to improve the provision of family planning and reproductive health and other health services in developing countries using knowledge management approaches. The USAID Office of Global Health funds K4Health, and it is implemented by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Center for Communication Programs, FHI, and Management Sciences for Health.

Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health
The US-based National Association of Nurse Practitioners
in Women's Health (formerly the National Association
of Nurse Practitioners in Reproductive Health) recognizes
and respects women as decision-makers for their health
care and NPWH's mission includes protecting and promoting
a woman's right to make her own choices regarding
her health within the context of her personal, religious,
cultural, and family beliefs. NPWH represents nurse
practitioners that provide care to women in the primary
care setting as well as in women's health specialty
practices. The NPWH monthly newsletter often contains
special articles and updates on emergency contraception
research and availability.

Contraception Policy Guidelines, Republic of South
Africa
This site includes a model for a dual protection approach
(an approach that promotes strategies that prevent
both unwanted pregnancy and STI/HIV infection) in
the National Contraception Policy Guidelines issued
by the Republic of South Africa's Department of Health.
In discussing barrier methods, these guidelines state,
"in the event of condom failure, access to emergency
contraception should be promoted more extensively."

Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association (NFPRHA)
NFPRHA's mission is to assure access to voluntary,
confidential, comprehensive, culturally sensitive
family planning and reproductive health care services
and to support reproductive freedom for all. NFPRHA,
based in the US, represents providers of care: public,
private, domestic and international as well as researchers,
educators, consumers and advocates. In the area of
emergency contraception, NFPRHA offers detailed information
and fact sheets on their website and is a participant
in the "Back Up Your Birth Control" campaign.

The National Institute for Reproductive Health is an innovation institute for reproductive health care in the United States. The organization coordinates the Back Up Your Birth Control campaign and works with state and local advocates across the country to expand access to emergency contraception.

the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland,
is the world's largest medical library. The Library
collects materials and provides information and research
services in all areas of biomedicine and health care.

- Physicians
for Reproductive Choice and Health
The mission of Physicians for Reproductive Choice
and Health® (PRCH) is to enable concerned physicians
to take a more active and visible role in support
of universal reproductive health. PRCH is committed
to ensuring that all people have the knowledge, access
to quality services and freedom of choice to make
their own reproductive health decisions. The PRCH
website contains a special section focused on emergency
contraception information, and includes fact sheets,
FDA information and an overview scientific literature
related to EC.

The PPFA website provides a range of information and
services, including fact sheets and articles on a
range of topics related to emergency contraception,
and information on where and how to get emergency

- Raising
Her Voice
Raising Her Voice provides a safe space for survivors
of sexual assault to share their experiences with
emergency contraception (EC or the "morning-after
pill"). The website aims to raise awareness about
the important role of EC during a time of crisis.

Health Online (Reproline)
Reproline, a service of JHPEIGO, an affiliate of Johns
Hopkins University, provides information on all types
of reproductive health along with training materials
and internet tools in English, Spanish, French, and
Russian.
- Reproductive Health Technologies Project (RHTP)
The mission of the Reproductive Health Technologies Project (RHTP) is to advance the ability of every woman of any age to achieve full reproductive freedom with access to the safest, most effective, appropriate and acceptable technologies for ensuring her own health and controlling her fertility. RHTP works to ensure EC access and has a number of EC resources on their website.

Information and Education Council of the United States
SIECUS-the Sexuality Information and Education Council
of the United States-has served as the national voice
for sexuality education, sexual health, and sexual
rights for over 40 years. SIECUS affirms that sexuality
is a fundamental part of being human, one that is
worthy of dignity and respect. The SIECUS website
contains a number of policy statements reporting on
emergency contraception availability in the United
States.

The USAID is the principal U.S. agency that extends assistance to countries recovering from disaster, trying to escape poverty, and engaging in democratic reforms. Their work supports: economic growth, agriculture and trade; democracy, conflict prevention and humanitarian assistance; and global health, including family planning.

The FDA is responsible for protecting the public health
by assuring the safety, efficacy, and security of
human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical
devices, our nation's food supply, cosmetics, and
products that emit radiation. The FDA is also responsible
for advancing the public health by helping to speed
innovations that make medicines and foods more effective,
safer, and more affordable; and helping the public
get the accurate, science-based information they need
to use medicines and foods to improve their health.

for updates on emergency contraception policy changes.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is the United Nations
specialized agency for health. It was established
on 7 April 1948. WHO's objective, as set out in its
Constitution, is the attainment by all peoples of
the highest possible level of health. Health is defined
in WHO's Constitution as a state of complete physical,
mental and social well-being and not merely the absence
of disease or infirmity.
